When did you first take up photography?
I have always been drawn to the arts and around the age of 15, I picked up one of my father's cameras and began making images. I fell in love with the concepts behind them and with the idea of creating something out of nothing, and that's where it all began.
What are some of your favourite things and people to photograph?
Femininity is a fascinating subject for me and I love having girls as my subjects because it's a way for me to define my thoughts. It changes the way I approach things and gives me a female gaze. I look for a spontaneity and rawness in the people I put in photos while still letting them be a secret between myself and my muses. Besides femininity, I am also inspired by melancholy, the dream state, and youth.
Of all your photographs, which are some of your favourites? Tell us more about these pieces. My favorite photos are the ones that have a shared humanity between the subject and myself. By creating the look of human contact in a photo, you create the feeling of human spirit – and I always look for that gaze. The feelings associated with each photo are different, and they change a lot too. Here are some of my favourites though:
Is there a message you hope to convey with every photograph?
Of course. Every photo I take is influenced by something, it's me learning something or feeling something in the process. My audience can take that however they would like.
Is there anything that you might have given up in order to pursue photography? What are some things you have gained? No, not to pursue photography, because this is all I want to do. I've gained a lot through it through! Amazing people that I will always be connected to, experiences I wouldn't change for the world, friends, travels… the list could go on forever.
